Pilot territory in the Iași metropolitan area combining biotechnology, biomaterials, food processing, livestock, renewable energy and community infrastructure.
KANTON Rediu is a pilot territory in Iași County, Romania, about ten minutes from the city of Iași. The programme covers 1,269.5 hectares and is designed as a balanced territorial economy in which local production, green energy, circular resource management, education, housing and community services reinforce one another.
Priority investment clusters include sunflower processing, bio-tableware and lactic-acid bioplastics, bakery and edible oils, 400 hectares of sorghum, feed production, geopolymer building blocks, a 1,000-head dairy farm, and 3 MW of solar PV with 15 MW of battery storage. Around 415 jobs are planned for a community of more than 8,000 people. Implementation is planned in five phases, from site studies and the master plan in 2026 to an operating ecosystem from 2029, as a scalable model for the Iași metropolitan zone.
