KANTON Chopovychi

Timber construction and circular bioeconomy hub

Territorial programme

Integrated model linking timber processing, prefabricated wooden housing, biomass, bio-based materials, renewable energy and rail logistics for Ukraine’s reconstruction.

Project Overview

KANTON Chopovychi is an integrated development model in Zhytomyr Region, Ukraine, built on wood construction, bioeconomy, energy and logistics. It connects responsibly sourced local timber with sawmilling and wood products, a prefabricated wooden housing plant, biomass and pellet production, wood-fibre composites and bioplastic applications, renewable energy with storage, and rail logistics on the Kyiv–Korosten line.

The goal is to turn local resources into construction products for Ukraine’s reconstruction, together with jobs, skills and eco-housing for the community. Two candidate sites listed in the Community Investment Passport — Prystantsiine (52.897 ha) and Chopovychi (27.2864 ha) — are being considered; their allocation to KANTON is not yet confirmed. Land area, CAPEX and jobs will be defined after site verification and feasibility. KANTON Alliance leads the concept and the site assessment.
